Just wanted to share that I just purchased a used 2013 Dodge Charger R/T Max with only 15,000 original miles. Had the car for a month and took a drive out to the country and after 30-minutes of driving noticed white smoke coming from my engine. Checked my car temperature indicator and it started overheating to 200 degrees. Immediately pulled over and noticed coolant on my engine.

Towed my vehicle to my repair shop and diagnosed that I needed a new radiator, thermostat, and coolant w/parts & labor of over $900’s, but had a 10% discount from AAA, which saved me $100’s bringing the total to little over $800 (State of Hawaii).

After reading a few similar issues on this forum with our 2013 Dodge Chargers makes me wonder if this was a factory defect? Just saying...

200deg water temp would not be overheating in these cars, they have a 200deg thermostat in them . . .

Default Water leak in 2013 R/T.......radiator?

Sorry...need to be more descriptive with the temperature gauge reading. My vehicle normally runs from 206-216 degrees, but when the incident occurred I immediately pulled over as the temperature was climbing to 238. Car was diagnosed and tested: “Block test fluid turned from blue to green with two different Tester devices possible head gasket leak recommendation dealer for further diagnosis and repairs of the cooling system.” Took my Vehicle to the dealership which is now being tested and diagnosed.

And unfortunately, the powertrain warranty expired in March 2018.

I guess you didn't have it checked out before purchase. Buying a used vehicle can be a crap shoot.

Thank you Columbia TN Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep! Great service.

It's not a fluke. The last two I've had did the same thing.
The current radiator is a pin hole now, drivers side, top. I will go with an after market one this time. If I have to keep replacing them, I might as well get one that is cheap.

Default Update from Dodge Dealership

As you probably know diagnostic test are not free and charged me $149, which I approved. Received good news & bad news. The good news is they found another problem and in order to diagnosis this problem it would cost $249, which I approved. They discovered that the car’s 6-cylinder exhaust is leaking compression. The bad news was there is a nationwide back order for parts 3-4 months waiting period. Cost for the part around $1,000 and labor around $2,000. Bill estimated around $3,398 not including taxes. Enterprise Rental $35-a day for approximately.3-4 months.
