2012 not starting sometimes
About once a week my Durango v6 crew will not start. Pushing the button it will crank just fine, but it will never turn over. After about 3 button pushes and waiting about 3 minutes It will start.
This occurs at all times of day and after sitting or after just a few of sitting. I have about 8k miles on mine.
Any idea what could be wrong?

Unfortunately, it sounds an awful lot like the failure of the integrated fuel relay in the TIPM that the 2011's are currently under recall for.

Yes, sounds like the classic TIPM issue. here's my thread for what I did with mine.
https://dodgeforum.com/forum/3rd-gen...ning-tipm.html
the Chrysler solution is to install and external relay (external to the TIPM module) because the fuel pump relay intergrated into the TIPM seems to be failing. to replace the TIPM itself seems to cost around $1,000 or so AND if the fuel pump relay in the TIPM totally fails it can sometimes take other relays with it. the TIPM is basically like a circuit board.
there is a very recent recall for 2011 vehicles. but we've seen 2012's and I think some 2013's have the issue.
I ordered a $26 plug in bypass from Jason at Vertical Ventures (details in the thread) that let me drive around with no problems until Chrysler was ready to fix it.
the parts needed to do the bypass are pretty common and can be found at parts stores or on Amazon. some members have just done the bypass themselves.
I prefered just to plug in the handmade bypass from Jason. I didn't want to cut into the wires myself when I knew Chrysler was going to fix it (sooner or later). another benefit to Jaspn's plug in bypass is I was able to verify I actually had the failing relay issue and not something more involved like a failing fuel pump or WIN module.
best $26 I've spent on the Durango.

Sounds like Dodge knows its a problem but wont be fixing 2012'? This is my first Dodge since my disaster of a B250 15 years ago and I am again seeing quality issues. I have had more issues with my Dodges than all my other cars combined. At least when I lost a cylinder they covered it under warranty.
I have sent an email to Vertical Visions to see if they have the part to help.

It's not really fair to bash Dodge on this one. The failing relay integrated with the TIPM is Chinese mfr. and the TIPM itself is sourced from another OEM subcomponent mfr. Every car builder has this problem because NO car builders build 100% of the parts that go into their cars.
There is really no QC at Dodge that could have prevented these from being installed.

I called my dealer to ask about it. They said there are no recalls for the TIPM for my vin. They said I would need to leave the truck with them and they would try and reproduce it and I could pay the diagnostic fee.
I ordered the part from Jason instead.
Thanks everyone for your help.
