I can't speak for both, but my R/T does not ride rough at all. It's extremely stable at high speeds and steering is tight and concise. Does not handle like a truck in my opinion. For the weight and size it handles more like a big sports car, but it isn't rough or sloppy. As for the t clinical side, Steve or one of the long time DD guys can probably answer best.

Does your Dodge dealer have both trim levels in stock? If so, I would recommend taking both on a test-drive to compare.

I doubt you'll see much difference in the ride in a straight line. But my '13 R/T corners very well. And as Mcfarl says, 20 in wheels will make it seem stiffer vs 18's. That said, my wife's Infiniti M37 Sport with 20 in wheels and sport suspension rides much harsher than my R/T. In the '13 models, with the R/T you give up chrome accents, roof rack, DRL's, net hooks in the rear, and have a hard time adding running boards due to the body cladding. And like Henry Ford said, you can have any interior color as long as it's black. Check on these features for the '15 before you pull the trigger.
