Default Question for those with Captain Chairs

We are getting ready to purchase a new Durango R/T and we want the Captain Chairs for the second row. We wanted to regular chairs without the center console but the only vehicle we could find without building has the second row console with armrests. Is the console removable and if so what is underneath? We have 4 kids and figured the captain chairs would be easier to access the rear seats.

I have an R/T with 2nd row captains chairs and foldable armrests. The console is small and low (and rubber) and you can just step over it.

The larger second row center console doesn't come with foldable arm rests...as the larger console (top) acts as the arm rests.

Maybe someone can correct me if I'm wrong.

Nope, I believe you are correct. I was wondering if anyone has ever removed the larger console and if so how hard it was and what was underneath.

The only R/T even close to us that is what we want has the larger console. If it won't work we have to build one.

Its really easy for kids to get in back. Our kids in the second row love the console. They can put their stuff in there, it also has USB inputs for charging things as well.

I'm pretty sure if you remove it you'll have a hole in the carpet. Your kids won't have any trouble navigating over it, and I agree that it's great for holding all their junk.

And the cup holders light up! 😏

But it is actually very handy for the kids.

You can remove the large console and replace it with the smaller one (It's been discussed before. I think is the one), but as you realized, you won't have the inside arm rests...
