Exclamation Brake light on - intermittently

2011 V6 Crew AWD 130K miles

Brake light came on in dash after a couple hour drive on Sunday. went to brake and felt like the pedal pushed back and wouldn't let me stop as quickly as i would have liked. light turned off after a bit and normal braking resumed. light comes on again closer to home and funky pedal returns.

Anyone experience anything with only the brake light on? No abs or check engine light on.

Thank you in advance

Did you check the brake fluid level in the master cylinder?

Called dealership and was informed it is "to replace the cover only". Service manager stated it sounded like a brake booster issue but that I was on my own for that. Asked about any other recall and he mentioned a visor spacer and fuel pump relay (no parts available).

Sounds like i am going to have to replace the booster on my own unfortunately unless this doesn't sound right?

**edit**

Called second dealership (not preferred one) but they stated bring it in and will replace if not functioning accordingly and have parts for all recalls for vehicle. going in next tuesday morning for service. hopefully clears it up and will update once finalized. thanks again for the help!!

P14 - Safety Recall - Brake Booster / 2011-2014 (WD) Dodge Durango and (WK) Jeep Grand Cherokee
Answer ID 24374 | Published 10/11/2014 01:40 PM | Updated 06/03/2015 02:03 PM
What are the details of the P14 - Safety Recall - Brake Booster for the 2011-2014 (WD) Dodge Durango and (WK) Jeep Grand Cherokee?

Visit Recall VIN Lookup to view recall notifications not yet performed on your vehicle.

If your vehicle is included in this recall, you will receive a notice. Follow the instructions on the notification and work with your Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep or Ram Dealership to schedule your appointment. If you have additional questions, please contact the Chrysler Group Recall Assistance Center at 1-800-853-1403.

Models:
2011-2014 (WD) Dodge Durango, (WK) Jeep Grand Cherokee
This recall applies only to those vehicles built through September 08, 2013.

Subject:
The brake booster on about 639,000 of the above vehicles may prematurely corrode. If perforation of the brake booster shell (due to corrosion) occurs, the brake booster may ingest water during vehicle operation in wet weather conditions.
A brake booster that has experienced water ingestion may have the brake function compromised if the water inside the brake booster freezes. The driver may be required to apply additional application force to apply the brakes during sub-freezing driving conditions. An unexpected additional brake pedal application force requirement could slow the driver's brake application reaction time and cause a crash without warning.

Repair:
All involved vehicles must have the brake booster inspected for corrosion. Brake boosters found with excessive corrosion will be replaced, free of charge (parts and labor). All boosters will be equipped with a shield to protect the brake booster crimp joints from water exposure.

Additional Questions:
Please contact the Chrysler Group Recall Assistance Center at 1-800-853-1403.

Visor recall adds some wire clips so the wires don't chafe and the fuel pump relayis to fix the TIPM module with failed relays

Isn't it amazing how two different Dealerships come up with two different ways of treating the customer and fixing the problem for that customer. One of the dealerships feeds you crap. And the other dealership steps up and takes care of the problem.

WTF?

WHY is that FCA?
