Default 2012 Durango V8- Hissing Noise- Could it be the TIPM?

Hi,
I have a 2012 Durango V8 with abt 36K miles on it. My wife drove home yesterday and observed a loud hissing noise from the engine bay after the engine had been shut down. It almost sounded like someone is letting the air out of the tire. Some pressurized air/coolant/exhaust leaking. It lasted for about 10 minutes after the engine shut down. Also notices some water in the engine bay and some puddle on the garage floor. What could it be? Taking it to the dealer today. Any help appreciated.

Thanks,
Gautam Acharya

Coolant leak. You're taking it to the dealer. What help do you need?

Thank you jkeaton. Just wanted to make sure it will not stall on the way since my wife will be driving it and i am out of town. Does not look like an electrical issue, especially with the noise and the puddle of coolant/water.

Thanks,

Check the coolant level before driving it. If it is a coolant leak, you need to make sure it has enough coolant for the drive. Don't risk further damage.

Did she describe the puddle on the garage floor? Did if have a color to it? If she was using the A/C before parking the truck the puddle may just be condensate from the A/C.

As for the hissing noise, a coolant leak does seem most likely to fit the description. Did she notice if there was a somewhat sweet odor in the garage during the hissing?

Thanks SHO Rod. She took it to the dealership today and they said that it was a water pump leaking and it is covered in the standard factory warranty. What worries me is that i had left it at this dealership for the big 36K mile service (spark plugs, all oils-AWD V8,etc.) and viola after 2 weeks and less than 100 miles i have this issue. Hopefully they have not messed up something else.

Thanks,
Gautam

I'm happy to hear that they got this diagnosed for you and it is covered by your warranty, Gautam. Be sure to keep us posted on how everything is working after you get your vehicle back.
