So I have been tackling the rust developing on the seat frames in the second and third row, also on the emergency brake lever with Wd40 when I noticed a problem with my sunroof. That horrible bug catching wind deflector had so much gunk on it that I just couldn't remove and then I noticed it when I was getting gas, its totall rusted. That gunk was not dead bug guts or dirt but rust dripping down. This rust is only on the wind deflector that pops up when the sunroof opens.

Does anybody else have this problem? I have a 2012 Durango AWD Crew. Here's a pic. I picked up the part for $117 from my dealers parts dept. and put it on myself, not too bad, clips were a bitch.

NOTE: The Deflector is upside down in this pic. The rusted part is the top part. I never noticed this from inside the car.

Hopefully it's got a warrant against defects and workmanship.

 

Looks like that deflector has been rusting for sometime.I live in the NW, moss grows every where up here. Even on your vehicle. And yes, the moss shows up on the edges of the sunroof along the rubber seal. I clean this especially good, I have not noticed any rust yet. I will be inspecting it more often.

 

I have checked my 2011 Citadel and the deflector frame is made out of plastic.
The car was made for export markets (metricated, writings in Arab and Chinese everywhere), but I wonder if this piece is of plastic on all 2011 cars, or just mine...
