Default Oil Leak - Timing Cover

While changing the oil at 30,000 miles on my V6 I noticed an oil film all over the bottom of the block and oil pan. Followed it up and found it all over the lower front of the engine, passenger side, and alternator. Guessed it was coming through the timing cover gasket. Dealer confirmed and replaced the gasket under warranty.

An oil leak at 30,000 miles is a little concerning though. Going to seriously consider getting an extended warranty before the basic warranty runs out.

I wouldn't get too worried. The axle seal in my rear-end was leaking the day I brought my Durango home. It happens.

If you can afford the extended warranty and you want "peace of mind". Get the extended warranty. Make sure you read through the warranty contract so you are getting the right coverage on items that may have issues after time and or wear. I have had to use the extended warranty, it did save me a few bucks and it did give me "peace of mind" while owning the vehicle.
