Little plastic bag in glove compartment - empty????
If you do not know by now - I just purchased a used 2015 R/T. Went trough the glove department last night to check to see what's in there. It seems like the owners manual is there (book and DVD), along with Sirius/UConnect info. There was the Tire Info/Warranty leaflet. There was also a small clear plastic bag in there as well (for me empty). It says - "KEEP IN VEHICLE FOR CUSTOMER USE". It also has a white label with bar codes and numbers. It doesn't look like a VIN number. Can anyone tell me what this is, or what was in the bag at onetime?
Thanks
Jerry

Yep, that would be the bag for the plug in harness connector for a trailer brake controller.
If it isn't in the bag, and you have no brake controller, the harness may have been plugged in and coiled up above the parking brake.

No it's not the Trailer Harness. That is much larger, and it is in the glove department with the harness still in it.
It's funny I found two old forum questions regarding this as well. Not one was answered or resolved. Even the dealerships couldn't answer the question. Here is a link to one just forum with picture of bag:

The first number is 5923499AA with serial code. The second is unique and I will keep this too myself just in case :-)
Some theories from internets:
- key fobs - though there is no distinguishing serial number on my keyfob. Is each key fob unique?
- extra key - someone claimed that was what it was in their bag. Seems logical. Bag can fit two key fobs.
- lug nut key - though my wheels do not have a unique lug nut - does anyone else think this weird??? I'm sure the wheels and tires are expensive?? My Xterra had a special lug nut to prevent theft!!!
- something dealing with the tow package - a special key to attach the the hitch extension????
Thanks for the input. I'm obviously going to keep the bag because it seems impotent!

Nope, it just pops in and I guess they leave it out to deter theft of the button. There have been many stories of people not even knowing that their R/T had one till they were on the forum. They call the dealer back and yep, dealer forgot to put in in.

im going to bring this post back from the dead because it was never answered, that bag if for the keys. the staggered numbers towards the bottom of the label is a key code, each number represents the size of the chip and where they sit inside of the lock. if you every lost the keys you could go to a locksmith with that bag and he could produce another key from just those numbers
Having re-keyed a few locks before, I agree this is very likely the purpose of the bag and those staggered numbers. The actual tumblers probably also have the number stamped in them, but having this bag would prevent needing to remove and disassemble the lock to determine the pattern.
Now I want to go out to my truck to see if mine came with a similar bag.

They're technically not tumblers I just can't remember the exact term for them right now but yes it's the code to get the key replaced. The third picture of the bag was when I had to replace the ignition cylinder on my 03 durango, that was the code for the key that came with the new part but I re keyed it to the original key because it had the sentry system
