Default Buy in the next few months, or wait for the '17 update?

Apparently the Durango is getting a refresh for 2017, but I haven't seen what that will entail yet.

I have a 2016 Subaru WRX that I replaced my 2010 Ram 1500 Laramie quad cab with...annnnnnnd let's just say that after a few months, I'm looking to jump back on board the Dodge train. I think I went a bit too far in the opposite direction from the truck and would like a Durango now.

I like the Rocky Road 2.5" lift a lot of you are doing - looks awesome. I live in California but love snowboarding and camping, plus a bit of hunting and may start fishing - not to mention surfing...so yeah, a small lift and some different wheels and tires are far more likely than a drop and 22"s lol.

Anyway, for those of you who have earlier Gen 3s or even new ones...what're your thoughts? I'm looking at the V8 which means I automatically have to jump to the Citadel....bleh! I'd be happy with the stuff that comes on the Limited trim. The only options I "NEED" to have are the backup camera and upgraded audio (but wtf Dodge, Beats?! Really?! No Bose? HK? You had to go with ****ing Beats?!!). In my Ram 1500 Laramie I had everything - heated seats, steering wheel, ventilated seats, nav, etc. Loved the heated steering wheel and seats, but if I'm being honest could do without it a lot more than I could do without the backup camera and audio.

So...yeah. 2015/16, or wait till 17 and see what they do?

5 is fine, the 3rd row will be folded down 99% of the time or removed completely. I'd love to design a storage solution that bolts into the brackets where that back row goes like for hunting as a gun safe or for dirt bike gear or something.

Actually that's another question - how does the dual captain chairs affect storage when you fold everything flat? Supposedly you can fit a couch?

You might get a good deal $$ on a 2016 DD model now.

If you can wait a couple of more months, when the 2017 DD start showing up.

You may get an even better deal $$ on a 2016 DD.

DD = Dodge Durango, I believe.

IMHO, 2017 refresh can't be all that much compared to 2014 refresh that brought the 8AT, LED rear lights and bi-Xenon up front. It will be the same architecture - nothing all new. I suppose it is possible they could address the seat comfort (hard cushioning many people complain about, including my wife who drove us to a 2016 Durango to replace our 2014 that got totaled).

Besides the third row option, IMHO, I believe the JGC (Jeep Grand Cherokee) has better AWD system options. The Durango only comes with all open differentials with brake based control of where the power goes...

I'm not overly concerned with getting lockers or anything. Again, not planning on any serious off-roading beyond camping and whatnot.

I don't think you can get the V8 in a Citadel in 2016, only the RT. You might have to go back to a 2015 model if you don't want the lowered RT.

I will tell you that I owned a 2012 V6 crew model, but upgraded to the 2015 RT. The 2012 was nice, changes made in 2014 were a huge improvement. The only things I miss on the 2012 was the ipod storage in the armrest and I had a fold flat passenger seat which my new one does not have, which makes hauling a ladder inside harder.

And since the RT has no luggage rack, it aint going outside either.

If you are into snowboarding this might be a concern to be aware of - I don't think it's possible to get the luggage rack and V8 on the same Durango in 2016.
