Default AC Leak

2015 Durango citadel ac leaks freon in several days and the dealer has put dye in the system and cant find the leak. The vehicle has the new 1234yf freon. Has anyone had this experience and the leak found?

About the only time I've experienced a leak where the dye was not visible, it was because the leak was in the evaporator core. Assuming the dealer has an electronic leak detector for the refrigerant used, they may need to check the vents to see if they can detect a leak from the evaporator. The other thing to keep in mind is that the Durango has rear HVAC as well so the leak could be towards the rear of the vehicle as well. Did they check along the side and the rear for signs of the dye?

They only installed the dye and do not have a sniffer for the 1234yf freon. They were suppose to have checked all the hoses and connections with the black light

My 2012 Durango has a leak in the A/C system. It's not too bad. I've been adding a can of freon every 7-8 weeks.

The AC comes on by itself.

It is leaking Freon.

The money you have spent replacing your Freon every 7-8 weeks could have gone toward fixing your leak permanently.

Just saying.

Just saying.
I'm unemployed. Don't have the money to fix it right now.

Sorry to read about your employment status.

Been there myself a few times in my career.

It's your money, so spend it anyway you wish.

if you have a dual system; i have repair 2 of these trucks for leaks from the rear a/c lines. both leaks were from the tubing. it routes down from firewall above the trans housing and bends right to go around the fuel tank. At that point, the lines are somewhat exposed to throw-off from the front wheels and rocks punctured the lines.
the dealer has specialty tools that will allow for sectioning in a repair instead of replacing the entire line from the rear evaporator to just in front of firewall. The repaired section needs to be covered in loom to protect it from damage.

Thanks! I will check the lines to see if they have damage.
