XHECK Engine Light After Header install
I have a 2004 5.7 durango and decided to have a full exhaust installed. I had jba shorty headers installed, kept the factory piping but replaced the cats with new factory ones, installed a flowmaster and deleted the resonator. Since then I've had a check engine light and it reads either the driver or passenger side o2 sensor is bad. I don't remember which one it is but I replaced all of the o2 sensors after taking my car to autozone and having them diagnose the problem. I still have a check engine light and It reeks of gas so it's running rich and starts sputtering after about 2 weeks then I have to disconnect the battery then reconnect it for it to run right again. My questions are, would buying dummy o2 sensors fix the problem? If so, would I have to buy both up and down stream o2 sensors or just one side or the other? Or would I need a tune?
I installed a set of Mike Leach headers and crossover pipe on my 1999 5.9L engine and the check engine lite came on so I bought a dummy down stream 02 sensor and the light went out. I think it cost around $75.
