"Auto restart" PITA
I picked a used '17 Citadel (traded in my '12 Crew) a couple of weeks ago and have spent a few hours getting things dialed in to my preferences. The biggest annoyance so far is the default function where the car turns itself off every time I stop. I found the override button to stop this PITA function but now I have to turn off the auto start every time I get in to go somewhere. Phooey.
I'm sure the Greenies love this function (Let's save the planet!) but the practicality and common sense of the function is lost on me. Out of curiosity, how much fuel does the 3.6L burn per minute at idle?
Most of my driving is in the suburbs and on the highway and I go into Baltimore or Washington maybe 3-4 times a YEAR, so I don't do much city driving. I'm guessing I spend maybe 3-4 hours a YEAR! at stop signs and red lights, which might equate to 3-4 gallons per year.
A more practical approach to this issue (Save the Planet vs. Gas 'N Go) would be to make the function optional on a full time basis by using the info center controlled by the buttons on the steering wheel. This would satisfy the Greenies' efforts to do good and avoid evil while at the same time allowing Neanderthals such as myself to continue our fatal and filthy habits.
Yeah, it's a small inconvenience to be forced to switch off Auto Restart every time I use the truck but it makes me wonder about the lack of common sense among Dodge's designers. I guess I should be grateful they "allow" (!!!!) me to override the default, none the less, it is still a PITA.
Other than that, I still love my truck!

There was someone on a group I saw that was selling an OBD-II port hack that would keep your setting the way you want it, I'll look for it. Honestly for us it's just part of starting the car now.
Funny to me that the Park Sense stays where you put it, ours freaks out on our garage door frame while backing out and hits the brakes automatically.

just wait until you see all the new stop/start models...its spreading.
City drivers could see 3-10% ....the numbers i hear reguarding fuel savings...but its more probably to be at the 3% end.
I shut it down in stop and go traffic jams but have no problem with it anywhere else. The effort to push the disable button once per trip i can deal with; not worth the trouble for me to disable the system. If i gotta replace an expensive starter, new fangled belt tensioner or aux battery...I would not be happy.

Roogie: The auto breaking function of the back-up camera was a surprise to me and caused quite a shock the first time it happened. I actually got out of the truck to see if I'd hit something. The second time it happened I figured things out. My '12 would simply keep beeping louder and louder until it hit a solid tone then I knew it was time to stop. :-)

update stop start disable
permanent stop start disable will not be an option. if fca were to build this; all the epa fuel rating data for the vehicle would have to be modified.
have heard some people have disconnected the intelligent battery sensor connector to disable the system. no visible dtc set but the battery sensor system is used to extend battery life and increase fuel mileage.
