The drivers side window/locks master switch stopped working. It will still operate the back windows but not the front. Also won't operate door locks or mirrors. I bought a new switch unit but that didn't fix it. I checked the fuse under the hood and it was ok. So I'm thinking it's a bad ground maybe. Does anyone have a wiring diagram for the drivers door? Anyone else ever had this problem?
Will it operate either of the front windows, or just not the driver's side front?
Glancing over the wiring diagram this morning from BBB Industries there don't appear to be any fuses (F20 and F24) that would explain only 1 or 2 windows failing to work, so I suspect there's a broken wire somewhere. Trying to make sense of which wire or wires could explain issues with only the front windows, locks, and mirrors will take more time though.
Do the power locks work from the button on the outside door handle or the key fob?
Thanks Rod for taking the time to look at the diagram!
At the drivers master switch the following will not work: Both front windows, Power Locks, Mirror Adjust.
At the drivers master switch the rear windows will work.
At all other doors all functions work.
At the key fob all functions work.
I believe the Dodge Journey has a recall for a similar situation, but I ran the recalls on this vehicle and found nothing related.
Taking another look at the wiring diagrams for the Windows, Locks, and Mirrors, there is one common fuse to those three systems that you need to be really sure you check - Fuse 20 (30A) in the Power Distribution Center. I'm not yet positive if that fuse should also effect the rear windows or now, but worth looking at anyway. These wiring diagrams are not the most intuitive automotive diagrams I've seen.
Certainly worth checking. Several models of Fords have been known to have issues with wires breaking inside the accordion boot between the door and the cabin. Having run wires through those boots in both Fords and my Ram 1500, the physics of how Ford runs the wires and how FCA runs them are not much different, so could very well be prone to the same issue.
I checked every possible fuse and the ground. Also checked continuity of all wires thru the door hinge boot. Everything checks out. All I can figure is it is a problem in the Driver Door Module. That is the black box inside the door. I guess maybe it's bad. I can't think of anything else....
