Default Right Rear Taillight

I have an 2011 DD Cid. My RR Taillight is burned out. How do I get the lift gate inside back panel off?

Thanks in advance Bob

From the owners manual:
  1. Raise lift gate.
  2. Remove the two push pins from the taillight housing.
  3. Grasp the tail lamp and pull firmly rearward to disengage the lamp from the aperture panel.
  4. Twist socket counter clockwise an remove from lamp.
  5. Pull the bulb to remove it from the socket.
  6. Replace the bulb, install the socket and reinstall the lamp assembly.

Is it a running light that is located on the tailgate or far outside taillight that is mounted at the right rear corner? If the taillight on the corner you do not need to disassemble the tailgate. If it's one of the running lights on the tailgate though, that's a bit more involved.

Yes it is the "running" light on the tailgate. do I have to take off the plastic panel on the back tailgate?

Page 522. Sorry I can’t upload the page. But it’s there on how to access the lift gate bulbs. There are probably videos on YouTube if you’re in a pinch.

Yes, you have to remove the interior trim panel from the liftgate to gain access to change the bulbs. You may want to consider changing them all over to LEDs while you're in there. It's not much fun.

I took a peek at page 522 in the link provided above. I'm curious what the "flipper glass" is. If that's supposed to be the rear window on the liftgate, those instructions must be fore an older Durango. The liftgate glass on the 2011 is not able to be opened.

yeah. I can’t guarantee the accuracy of the owners manual. Lol
