starter want disengage
I have a 2011 dodge Durango citadel it has a 5.7 engine it also has a push button start and a remote start on the fob when I push the start button and hold the brake pedal to start the engine starter will not stop turning when brake pedal is released and it keeps cranking and will not start and you have to push she start and stop button to stop the starter, .same thing with the fob could it be the solenoid hanging up or some kind of relay///
Is the engine actually starting or not? If the engine is not starting, I think this is normal and part of what is referred to as "tip start." You should just need to hold the brake while momentarily pressing the Start button, then the starter will engage and remain engaged until the engine starts, or the Start/Stop button is pressed. I don't think you need to keep your foot on the brake pedal. It sounds to me like the issue is that the engine is not actually starting, or the engine speed sensor is not detecting that the engine has started. Has your TIPM already been modified with the external fuel pump relay?

He Rod, thanks for response to my post..I tried what you said and it is not starting I push the start button and holding the brake pedal and the starts spinning and the engine will start I can let off the brake pedal let go of the start button and the starter keeps turning till I push the stop button. the starter should stop turning when you release the start/ button.I don't know what you mean by the TIPM and could the fuel relay be in the fuse box under the hood ????
The starter will engage with a single press of the Start/Stop button if the brake pedal is held down. Once the engine starts or the button is pressed again, the starter should stop trying to engage the starter. That's the "tip start" feature, you can Google it. You should NOT hold down the Start button until you think the engine starts. I suspect what is happening is that the engine is not actually starting and that is why the starter is remaining engaged. The 2011 Durango were one of several model years known to have an issue with the fuel pump relay within the Totally Integrated Power Module (TIPM) which will cause a no start condition. You can Google that as well.

Yep, you can. That's intended more as a temporary work around than a long term fix though. I made my own that I kept in my glove box in anticipation of a TIPM failure. Fortunately I never had to use it.
