Default 2018 SXT AWD - Beach driving

Hi, we just moved to an area in Fl where beach driving/parking is an option. We came from Chicago area where AWD was great for us in snow - we never really though about off-roading or beach. Wondering how your experience is driving in the sand. Thanks

If the sand is hard packed you will be fine, people dive cars on some of the beaches down there. If it's soft sand like the beaches of the Outer Banks NC I wouldn't take any thing but a true 4x4 pickup or SUV that has plenty of ground clearance out there.

And the right tires for the purpose.

One of the car magazines did a review of SUVs a few years ago, which included the Durango. Their testing was in CA so they drive them on the beach. They liked the Durango, and noted in their story that they used it repeatedly to pull the other test subjects out when stuck.

A recent motor trend review of large SUVs had the same conclusion... that other than low clearance the AWD system in the Durango does well off road.
