Default 2016 Durango Limited remote start not working properly.

Hello everyone. The past two mornings I have tried to start my 2016 Durango Limited using the remote start to get my car warm inside and all that happens is the lights flash and I get one honk. That’s it. Then when I get to work I shut the car off and try it again and it will start. Seems like when it gets warmed up it starts. But as soon as it gets cold it doesn’t. I tried it again yesterday afternoon before I left work since it was in the 60’s and it started right up.. help?! Thank you!

Are there no messages coming up on display saying why remote start was aborted? if not go outside in the morning and watch display when you push remote start and see if a message comes up ??

Correct. No display when I get out there. I will try that tomorrow morning. Didn’t thinking about that. Thank you.

Nothing came up on my dash when I tried it this morning. Just the “push break and start button”. Could it be my battery? Cause I noticed yesterday too that the auto start stop couldn’t be used cause the battery was charging..?

Could be a low battery possibly.
I know for auto start/stop, quite a few parameters must be met before this function will operate...Im guessing battery condition, engine temp and run time, trans temp etc.
Maybe remote start wont function due to weak battery? Once you drive it to work battery is up on charge and remote starts ? just guessing tho. Let us know how you make out and service performed to remedy the issue.

Your gas light isn't on is it? That will disable remote start.

The only time our remote won't turn truck on is when the fuel is low.

I have the same issue with my 2016 Durango SXT (~40k miles). I actually don't mind much, as I used to have to disable it in parking lots/drive ways from shutting down before parking, and similar in heavy traffic.
No other 'messages' on my console besides the autostart unavailable. If its this flaky at 40k miles... I hate to see a heavy use/high milage Durago

I just had the same remote start failure thing happen to me. (I have a 2017 V6 Citadel with 60K miles) I fiddled with it and got it to work when I was sitting in the car and only after the car was warmed up. The other thing that exhibited is that my stop/start system was in "battery conservation mode" on the dash menu...and actually stopped functioning (which I wouldn't generally know because I always disable it when I get going). It turned out one of the batteries was bad ... the main one...and the other was fine. Had it replaced and all is now working as it should.

it is important to note that the battery indicator on the dash menu appeared fine...that is, the system was showing the appropriate amount of volts...so, only a true test of the batteries revealed the problem.
