2013 Hemi V8 60k Spark Plug Change
So I finally talked myself into changing the copper spark plugs on my 2013 Durango Hemi Crew. Bought new.
The recommended interval is 30k miles. I have 57k miles. I pulled 2 plugs at 30k and they looked great so I left them in.
I bought the new copper plugs at Napa for $2.99 each (not a great deal).
You will need a 5/8” spark plug socket, 3 3/8” extensions, a 3/8” universal, a 3/8” ratchet for the plugs.
you will also need a 10mm socket.
I removed the coil packs 2 at a time, unplugged the coil and set aside.
The factory plugs were looking a bit tired. Great burn pattern and the gap was only slightly worn.
I added copper anti-seize to the new plugs. They are torqued to 13 ft lbs.
Before the swap, the engine would give a little shimmy shake right after it started. That is gone now.
I had the transmission serviced at 56k miles and that made a huge difference in how the durango drives. It got all its pep and quick shifting back.
