Default Humming noise.

I just purchased a 2013 Durango Crew and when I get it up to speed I hear humming noise coming from the top of the dash, like between the window and dash. I had the windshield checked and it's sealed. Whatever the noise is it seems like airflow is causing it to happen but having a hard time trying to put my finger on exactly what the problem is. Any ideals?

Default Cowl

Sounds like your cowl is warping causing the rubber to vibrate against your windshield.

Do you have a hood deflector on it? This was a problem on the GMT800 Silverados, install a deflector and you get a fluttering noise which is caused by the wind flow change hitting the rubber strips running up the side of the glass. The fix on them is to use flowable windshield sealer to seal the rubber strips down the side of the windshield down. No idea if the Durangos have the same issue, but it would be a quick check to use masking tape to run down the sides of the windshield and see if it goes away. You could do the same on the cowl to see if that's the problem. Once you identify with the tape, you can do a permanent fix.

could be the wipers, push them down and see if goes away. I think wipers sit too high when off.

I have a 2014 Citadel that has developed a noise on the right front dash within the last 2 years. At first, I thought it was a speaker going bad as it has that kind of sound/hum. It usually only happens when going at faster speeds though, especially on interstate. The sound has now moved into the center of the dash and is appearing more often. I read above, and not sure if it's the same thing, but now I do think it might be something in the engine compartment. Any help is appreciated and thanks. Love my Durango!

Thanks for replying. Are you saying dealership may know whats wrong when I turn it in? Last time I went in for service, they said they might have to go into dash so I said no at moment as they didn't recognize my description. I do want to get it fixed as it has become annoying and occurs more often. Thanks again
