Default Stop phone syncing

2021 Durange R/T

The wife would like to be able to charge her phone while using it in our Durango, but if we use the USB ports in the center console the Durango keeps trying to sync to the phone. How do we shut this extremely annoying bug, I mean "feature" off? Right now we're having her use the cigaratte lighter style power port inside the center console, but this port is always live as it doesn't shut off when the Durango is shut off and the doors are opened. I can't find anything in the menu to disable phone syncing. The port in front of the passenger does shut off but we use the radar detector for that one.

I don't have a 2021 Durango so I'm not sure if this is the case with yours or not, but some vehicles are set up where you can reposition a fuse to select between the power port being powered all the time or only with the ignition on. You may check your owner's manual to see if you can select the power style for the center console power port. I know that's not the preferred option, but something to consider. I'm also not sure if the selection would be identified in the features section of the owner's manual or the section detailing the fuses and relays.

You may also want to review the owner's manual (if you haven't already) regarding the settings for the phone connection. There may be a setting to disable automatic syncing.

Thanks. If the port can be changed that will work for me.

Don't know if you have an iPhone or Android, but on my Android, with the phone not connected to any bluetooth device, when I select "Settings", "Connected Devices", "Previously connected devices", and Settings for UConnect, one can turn on or off Phone Calls, Media audio and Contact sharing. Try and see if this prevents downloading the phone book to the UConnect system, which, I suspect is what you are trying to do.

Android, and I don't want it to recognize that a phone is plugged in at all. I just want it to supply power.

I read the owner's manual for my 2013 and also checked the outlets and, the ones that are switchable with the ignition key have a key symbol printed on their cover, in my 2013 that includes the one on the front console and the one on the right side in the cargo area. The one outlet inside the storage compartment under the arm rest has a battery symbol meaning that it always has battery power. According to the manual, the one in the cargo area is switchable from key to battery by repositioning the fuse. Check your 2021 owner's manual under "Power Outlets" to see if if your model year may be different. I don't have a center console in the 2nd row seats, but if you do, there should be an outlet inside that storage compartment.

Checked the manual. I can switch the rearmost 12VDC plug between battery and key power by switching a fuse, but the center console plug is battery only. But, all is not lost. The USB ports in the back of the front center console are power only, so we'll use them.
