17 Durango gt with the 3.6l. 148000ish kms. Cel came on runs rough, scanned for code p0302. Changed spark plugs, cylinder 2 coil pack and cylinder 2 injector. Code pops withing a 5 minute drive. Pull valve cover to check cams, no scoring or wear that my fingernail catches on.
Honestly im at loss here, I had a 2013 before that got the head replaced for cylinder 6 misfire, is this possibly the fix? Any tsb or campaigns?
I don't know why i went back to Chrysler still if this is the case. They clearly haven't fixed the issue.
Welcome to the forum! Are you certain that you changed the coil pack and injector for cylinder #2 and not cylinder cylinder #1? If I'm not mistaken, cylinder #2 would be the front cylinder on the driver's side (in the US). The right side as you're facing the engine from in front of the vehicle. Left side if seated inside the vehicle.
Do you have a scan tool that will let you monitor the fuel trims to get an idea if the code might be due to a lack or fuel or a lack of spark? Did the spark plug you removed from cylinder #2 look noticeably different from those you removed from other cylinders?
Yeah I was certain it was cylinder 2 i triple checked lol. That being said i solved the issue.
there's a solenoid that controls the oil for the valve timing. There's 4 on the car. 2 at the rear of each bank.(they control 3,5 and 4,6 respectively) but there's 2 more at the front of the valve covers just in front of # 1 and #2 coil packs. That baby goes bad mechanically will cause misfires. What i did was swap them and clear dtcs. Then drove it and bingo cylinder 1 misfire. $160 plus tax later and a bit of time retaking the intake off and problem solved for now. Can't get it the right way up but there's the part number.
