Just would not start.
I went to pick up my daughter this morning at the train station. I got there a little early so i sat and listened to the radio with the key on ACC. I must have been sitting there for about 15-2- mns. So I go to start my 2013 Durango with a V-6 and it would crank for two seconds and stop cranking. So I tried a few more times and still would not start. I banged on the fuel pump relay a few times, thinking that was the problem from an earlier incident. So I called for a tow and while I was on the phone with them I kept trying to start it. low and behold, it started like nothing happened. It does have 127,000 miles on it. The last time this happened, the engine was actually trying to start, but sounded like it was starved for fuel, but this time nothing really happened, it would just stop cranking, until it tried again. Anyone have this happen to them, or maybe have an idea what i could be? Thanks in advance.
When it stopped cranking did the radio or displays shut off / restart like if the battery were really low? Or did everything seem fine, just the started stopped trying to spin the engine over? Have you shut the engine off and tried to start it again to see if it starts fine? Do you have the tools or access to a chain parts store to load test the battery?

I have to say, everything looked normal while I was cranking it. The starter would go for maybe two turns and stop. I'm wondering if there's a relay for the ACC and maybe it gets hot and fails, then will work once it cools down. Im taking it to the Dealer for the A/C next week, but they wont be able to do anything unless it happens to them.
Banging on the fuel pump relay is not going to help with the cranking of the engine. The relay is for fuel delivery, Check the small wire going to the starter when the vehicle is cold. This has been a problem with the wire coming loose at the starter. Also if your battery more than three years old, you may want to think about replacing it. And if you have a stop/start battery, replace that too.
It's a small single wire going to the starter. Because the bigger wire/cable is the B+ wire. I don't remember the color.
