Default Brake Light Comes On

2012 Durango 4WD 5.7 Hemi

After I drive about 15 minutes (varies) the brake light comes on. Turns off after a restart. Plugged in my OBD2 code scanner and nothing shows up.

Car runs, stops, starts normally.

I suspect it's the parking brake switch. My question is does anyone know of any other problems that would cause the brake light to come on but not throw any codes?

Thank you.

Brake light coming on generally won’t throw an obd code. Check fluid level and parking brake/brake pedal switches.

I agree with all the comments above. What I'll add though is the brake fluid system is supposed to be a closed system, so if the fluid level is low in the master cylinder, don't just fill it up. If it's low, that's because either the pads are getting worn or there is a leak. Either of these causes should be explored and repaired. If you fill the reservoir, then someone goes to compress the calipers when replacing worn brake pads without opening the bleeder screw, that extra fluid is going to get forced out the master cylinder cap and dispersed inside the engine compartment.

Tx to all who replied. Just to be clear it's the brake warning light on the dash, not the actual brake light.

Checked the master cylinder and it was pretty full, added a little anyway. No change, so I'm thinking it's the parking brake switch only because I can't seem to identify any other problem that would cause the warning light to come on after a few minutes of driving but not throw any code. The brakes are worn but not to the point of the scrapers on the calipers making any noise.

As I said before car drives (and stops) normally, no brake noises.

Have you tried holding out the parking brake release handle with one hand while lifting the parking brake pedal with another hand to see if that cause the warning indicator to either go out or at least flicker?

Per the wiring diagram, there are separate inputs to the instrument cluster for the parking brake pedal and the brake fluid level switch, so maybe there are two different indications as well?
