Default 2019 Durango Overheating but reservoir has antifreeze

I have a 2019 Durango GT had it for almost two years. I currently have 109K miles on it. While driving one morning I got the warning engine over heating but with no check engine light took it to a gas station mechanic. The reservoir is full and has plenty of antifreeze but the mechanic stated that the water pump system and the thermostat could be bad. I advise a friend of mine who stated that I could just have a clog and suggested to have the system flushed. My question is what do you think the best option is. The mechanic quoted a price of only $665.00 that's including parts and labor. I wanted to see if any one else had this issue and has any other suggestions?

Does your Durango GT have the 3.6L V6 engine? There's probably a bleed screw on the cooling system, I'd suggest you make sure there's not just an air pocket in the cooling system causing a faulty reading of the temperature sensor. You may also be able to rent a cooling system pressure tester from a local auto parts store to see whether or not your cooling system has a leak. Just because the reservoir is at the correct level does not necessarily mean you don't have a leak.
