I agree throwing $$$ away that way.

Even just another 1000 miles on synthetic would warrant using full synthetic.

Autozone had 5 qts Mobil 1 5w-20 and a Mobil 1 syn filter for $27.00 two months back. Still had to buy 2 xtra qts but the filter ends up being free. Good deal for the DIYer. First post by the way

Yeah I just bought the Mobil 1 offer from Autozone. Tough offer to beat. Better oil, better filter.

I had 2qts of M1 0w-20 given to me from my cousin. He works for PepBoys in Philly. So the 5qt kit was perfect.

Mobil 1 10w30 stock Mopar filter every 5k! Factory 3k oil changes are a waste of the worlds natural resources and a Dealer scam!

Pennzoil Synthetic 5-W-30 and a Fram Xtended Guard filter@ 99K. I don't know much about what has been in there before now (just bought it from the DEA) , but I will use good stuff from now on. As for the change interval, I will use some compromise between 3 and 10K based on the synthetic, the extended life filter, the conditions and the oil appearance after some miles go by. If I have lots of carbon contamination (from blow-by), the change will come sooner. We'll see in a couple of thousand. Oh, I used 7.5 quarts including filter.

The truck has never seen anything other than Mobil 1 5w-30 full syn for all 130,000 miles of its life.

Which oil from amsoil are you using XL, ASL, SSO? Whichever one it is the stabilizer isn't necessary.

I'm using Xl. Thanks for the info. I didn't know that the stabilizer wasn't necessary
