OK so I just ordered my Cortex on Friday and it is going to be here on Monday. I have a question. Should I be concerned about programing a new truck? My truck has just under 1000 miles on my new Hemi and I dont want to go and screw anything up by using this programer. I can wait longer if need be, I am just now sure about any break in period for new motors and the dealer sure as hell wont recomend anything aftermarket for the truck EVER.

Also if anyone has any tips or tricks I should know that might make my life a little easier on Monday I would be greatful to hear them now.

 

I don't know what the SC guys will say, but I'd wait it out. Advancing timing is going to give you higher in cylinder peak pressures (though I can't quantify how much).

I'd leave it alone till 3k (just because we do everything on our trucks in 3000 mile increments) to make sure the rings seat as intended. If this is just going to be a low mileage weekend truck, then f' it. put it on.

 

I too have low miles, 3700, and I guess I'll just call SC, but what about the Diablosport Preditor?

 

No.

Tune it. No break in necessary. I've had my truck tuned for the majority of it's miles. It runs like a bat out of hell.

If you're concerned about reliability and whether a company actually understands the complicated PCM/TCM routine in our Rams, stick with Superchips. Tune away!

No advice yet, but it seems that Super Chips are the way to go. I will call mon and order one, still need to do a little more research. So, the tuners are the best of the best?, What about chips, etc...? I really would like the top of the line for my Hemi, most HP, Fuel, TQ, Switch settings, displays everything going on, etc... i have been reading the forum and it seems everybody likes the superchip. i have a 03' ram with the 4.7L motor. so i was wondering if superchip makes a chip for my truck, and which one should i get? thanks any imput would help

 

Some answers...

1. We are not working on any 2nd gen Ram projects at this time.

2. The 3865 and 3815 programmers share tuning so your vehicle will behave the same when tuned; however, the 3865 does have some innovations making it more 'user friendly' and 'in cabin friendly' like dimmable backlit LCD screen, quick tune menus, reduced size (fits in one hand), and 2009MY and newer applications. 3865 also communicates with the entire Dodge portfolio allowing Ram users to tune a Charger with the same device (assuming the VIN is unlocked). In the past you'd need a 3815 and a 3825.

I understand that there are 4 tunes to choose from with the flashpaq, and then the other options you can install if you want to. What if I take my truck to the dealer for service and I want to put the stock tune back on the truck. Does the flashpaq keep my stock tune and then I just load that back into my truck? or how does it work?
