Just so there is no disbelief or misinformation floating around I will confirm the above posts by JoeHemi and Off_Road_Teacher. The 04 and later models will have the ability to take advantage of the advanced trans tuning options coming out soon.

If you're talking about the advanced trans options: Yes, we are beta testing 04-09 right now.

Yes, the 07s & 08 were first to beta, then came the 04s & 05s, 06 were next then 09 followed up, so we now have 04-09 in beta.

The trans options will be released (earmarked for this Spring) for ALL years at the same time. There will be no individual year releases.

Bogger, you might want to look into getting a Transgo shift kit. It makes a difference. A little messy to install, but it shortens the time between shifts.

The newer model offers a good bit more than the 3815, but that said, I've been running a 3815 for over four years now. Besides the performance tune and the DTC reader, I think the single best feature is how it firms up the tranny shifts. Every time I return my truck to stock to let a fellow Ram/Dak owner try it out the first thing I notice is how mushy the tranny shifts feel on a stock tune.
Ain't no way I could live with a stock tune now.

If you can't afford to goto a new Cortex or 3865 and can get a good deal on an UNLOCKED 3815, go for it. You will not be disappointed...

Question Free 3715 MicroTuner

Quick Question. Co-Worker recently sold his '03 Hemi Ram, and has a 3715 tuner he is willing to give me. Will a 3715 do the basic tuning for an '04 Hemi, or do I need one of the newer tuners? Don't want to cheap out, but free is free!

if hes giving it to you then try it. the worst thing that can happen it a comm error or the tuner wont be able to link to the truck.

I am afraid that the 3715 ended service at the 2003 model Ram. The 3815 came onboard covering most apps in the 3715 and continued applications up to 2008.
