I hope this is the right place to ask this , I have a chance to pick up a 3815 for $100.
My question is I do not plan on any big mods other than cal and exhaust, Would it be better to fork over more $$$ for a 3865 or would 3815 give me all I need ?

Forgive me for sounding impatient, but I thought the trans tune was to be out today. Do we just go to the site and down load or do we need the code as previously stated.

 

 

I know it's a PIA to look through all 2,000+ posts to find your answer..lol
I'll help you out.
1) Make sure the tuner is UNLOCKED meaning the tune has been taken from the vehicle and put back into the programmer. If not, the tuner will be considered LOCKED to the vehicles vin # and will cost around ~$100 to have it unlocked.
2) 3815 is for non TCM supported vehicles..03-prior. Yes it can be used on the newer vehciles but the new "update" to be released is for transmission tuning. The 3815 has no specific trans tuning like the 3865 does but has the same engine/HP output. So, if altering the shift curves is not your thing, then the 3815 will be fine, just make sure it is unlocked.

Hey thanks for the reply, I did read about 500 post or so LOL, its about what I thought then. the unit is unlocked and was used on a 04 hemi.
Would like to get a 3865 but just hard to let go of the $$$.
