Custom tunes on top of the trans options would be the ultimate tuner.

So I have my 545rfe transmission tuned with my 3865 and was wondering about how safe it would be to firm up the line pressure with this:
http://www.airram.com/product.php?ca...productid=1486

"Sonnax 44957-LB2 brings us the quickest and easiest way to firm up the lazy shift of our 45RFE & 545RFE transmissions. This is a Plug & Play installation that will increase transmission line pressure up to 15-30 psi."

For $55 I think it would be pretty good deal to firm up the shift even more and to prevent slip. Any opinions? Superchips states they only reduce torque managment in the transmission and they dont change line pressure so I think this would be safe but I want to make sure.

We do not recommend that you stack another product with the SC trans tuning feature. The main reason is that it is not known if the device mentioned bases it's values off stock trans settings or not.

There would not be any predictable info available to suggest a positive outcome with stacking the two especially since you are not within a stock value now that you are SC tuned.

When we were testing our trans tuning feature the engineers did not find any worth while improvements with line pressure adjustments. If notable differences were seen that option would have more than likely been added to the feature you now have.

Default Octane tunes?

Im a newbie here, but I hold a degree in chemical engineering, and am very familiar with the chemical structure of gasoline. With that said, Im sure most of you know..."premium" fuel will not increase mileage/performance on an engine designed to run on "regular". Both fuels have the exact same energy, but premium has added hydro carbons (increasing the octane) to prevent detonation (pre-ignition or pinging) in high(er) compression engines. Premium fuel actually burns slower than regular.

With that said, I dont understand the benefit of running premium fuel without increasing compression...it doesnt matter how much you "tune" you give an engine, you are just wasting your money at the pump.

Anyway, just ordered my Superchips 3865...the dealer wanted $80 to set my tire size, and I found a 3865 for under $300, so figured Id make the investment.

What's the difference between the tow tuning, the economy tuning. I mean by the hp and torque. I'm new in this and kind of triing to understand the way it works before buying one. I need a review of SC 101.

Tow provides power and TQ increases that safely work under load. It will be less power than the performance setting but will still increase performance and drivability over stock.

Save is strictly created with mileage in mind so performance improvements are minimal at best.

Ok Thanks. So one way or the other the SC definitely a must. If i got it right, at TOW i'll get max perfornance with my travel trailer and at economy i could and i say i could usu it on a long trip without load let say 900 miles on the go at steady speed.
I'm pretty sure i got the picture. Where's the less expensive place to buy it?
