It's a new issue to me at this point so I am trying to figure out how far it's gone. I have not received any reports from customer service on the issue so I assume it is isolated.

Well I am not real confident in the update that finaly got uploaded to my programer on the third attempt. So I dont think that I am even going to try and program my truck at this point.

Default Performance vs. Tow Mode

Can anyone explain, in layman's terms, the difference in the 'performance' and the 'tow' mode tuning on my Cortex programmer? I havent taken it out and run times and all that, but I really dont see/feel a difference between them just driving on the street. Thanks.

Tow has less agressive timing and trans line pressure/shift point adjustments than the 91 perf file.

I appreciate the fast response Scott. I was looking for a little more clarity.
Like what do you mean by "less agressive timing and trans line pressure/shift point adjustments"?
Does the tow mode shift the trans sooner/quicker to keep the rpm's higher?

Ok, I confirmed with engineering that onlu timing was changed between the two settings to reduct detonation under load. Trans settings are the same between the two.

Thanks Scott.
That's interesting. seeing as Ramhunter says he feels more low end torque in the 'tow' setting. When, in fact, there is no difference in trans shift points/line pressure.

I would be curious to know the difference between stock and the 'perf' file.

Don't they offer your money back if you are not impressed by the performance gains? You should contact them and see.
