If its any reassurance to anyone, my 315 70 17 BF's fit with the leveling kit and 4.5 backspaced rims real nice. (2002 1500 4x4) They rub the plastic in the wheelwell on sharp turns but nothing damaging. Thanks again for the help !

And second, if it all fits will those sizes work on my 2002 leveled ram 4x4? I remember my tire place told me those wheels would fit my truck awhile back but now I see that the backspacing is a little more than whats recommended.

I fit 315 70R/17 on my truck with no problems and no issues. BFG AT/KO's. I have a 2003 quad 1500 4WD Off Road edition, which does indeed sit much higher than a standard 2WD 1500 Ram.

I have put over 100,000 miles on two sets of these tires (looking for price on third now) with absolutely no rubbing - EVER! I have received a lot of compliments on the look as well (not to mention the amazing sound generated by Aero Turbines and overall appearance!).

 

I have 20x9 fuel hostage -12 offset w/ 305/55/20s. 2" level on the front. No rubbing at all. I have tried to measure to see if a 35x12.50 would fit. I think it would but may require some inner lining trimming.

 

I have 20x9 with a -12 offset with 35 12.5 20 and they rubbed and had to shave my fenders. They didnt rub like horribly but rubbed at full lock and it was rubbing it another it bothered me and got annoying. I also have a 2.5 leveling kit with 1.5 rear block

 

dirty dirty dirty....great write up, i checked in to get some good much needed info as im looking at buying another set of rims and tires for bad habit, now you forgot about us lowered guys...lol....my 20" wheels with a 275/55 rub inner plastic wells on some bumps, looking at 22"s this round and want a tire that wont rub, i got my backspace and offset from op, im just confused what size tire to get...i will be getting stiffer shocks meant for lowered trucks so that should help some of the bounce that makes me rub....any ideas are appreciated.

 

Here is the dilemma on my 03' 4x4 1500. I plan to level/lift the front by cranking the TBs on the stock keys to 2" if it will allow. I leaning towards the 18x9 XD addicts which come in -12 (4.5") or +18 (5.5") offset on a 35x12.5x18

My concern is that if I get the 4.5" backspacing it will make the tires stick out to much. On the flipside I'm worried that 5.5" will have problems with it rubbing.

Everything below says it will work but I've had local tires shops tell me otherwise. Anyone have a similar setup with some lessons learned?

stock truck/wheels...you can fit 34's with no issue's(relatively normal width of 275-295)
stock truck/wheels...35's rub at full lock and are really big in fenders for stock height.
2"lift w/stock wheels.......Barely fit 35's with minor rubbing
Either addding 1.25" or 1.5" spacers to stock wheels OR aftermarket wheels w/backspacing 5.5"-4.5" will fit 35's no rubbing.
2"+left/level AND 5.5"-4.5" backspaced wheels will allow up to 36" but will slightly rub. You need a 4-6" lift in order to clear 36's.

 

For a 2006-2008 1500 4x4 is anyone running a 35x12.5/20 tire with the Bilstein 5100 adjustable set at max height without rubbing?

 

If I remember correctly, general rule of thumb for every inch of wheel upsizing you go down 1 ratio index number, or vice versus So, moving up from a 17-18" rim you'd go from a 55aspect ratio down to a 50 aspect ratio to get almost same diameter. Your case from 20-22 you'd go from a 55 down to a 45 since the middle number is a 50 and you'd go down 2 ratio index numbers.

So, for 22's, you'd want 275/45/22's to be where your at currently as far as width and height.
Now, since you rub on bumps, that has to do with width. You would want to go down to a 255 if you didnt want to rub on bumps or turns. It'll be 3/4" skinnier though.
255/50/22 will be same height as 275/55/20 but not as wide to rub. I wouldn't go with less rubber because you'll have rubberband size tires and it'll ride and look terrible.

I think I would throw on 1/4" spacers or different backspace, or dealing with minor rub rather than going with skinnies, but that's your choice.
Maybe wait until you do the stiffer shocks before buying a tire to see how they perform with what you currently have???
