i have done it with my hemi and i got 9 to 10 mpg from ct to ma. The second time i towed again, i asked my cousin for his cummins turbo diesel with stack and i got 18 to 19 mpg towing from ct to ma again. i was like damn, lot of power going up hill wow, i went only 1500 rpm going up hill while towing approximately 10,000 pounds, with hemi it need 3,000 to 4,000 rpm going up. So all i am saying is that you might want to consider getting a cummins turbo diesel.

I have an '03 Quad Cab longbed 3500 Dually 4:10 rear with the 5.7. Sometimes I can get up to 17MPG when rolling along the highweay at 65MPH and the wind behind me. Mostly it is an average of 15mpg highway. My wife driving around town to get kids / groceries etc pulls about 10mpg (She takes off pretty quick).
Towing our 28' travel trailer at about 6,000lbs loaded:
Around town I get about 7mpg. On the Florida highway I get about 10-11mpg. On a recent trip back from Ocala, I hit a massive headwind on I75 and was at about 6mpg with the tranny shifting out of OD on the flats. It's about what I expected to get with such a large vehicle.
Yeah it's not a diesel but it's a great gas engine. It likes RPMs to get power but it does have a ton of power for its displacement. Gobs more power than my old Chevy 350 vortec.

What kind of Dodge do you have, I have an 06 Mega Cab and my mileage is HORRIBLE!!! I'm thinking about changing the plugs and wires and hope that will help, maybe a Superchips programmer would help cause my computer still thinks it rolling on stock wheels and tires.
