new 08 needs bed liner
+1 on the spray-in liners.
I got the Line-X liner for my 08 1500 QC. It looks great, does not trap water (like drop-ins), and is tough. It cost me about $400 here in Detroit.
Both Rhino and Line-X are great liners.

The only thing I like about my drop in is the shock absorbance that it has for big items. The water drainage in the bedliners creates the best bounce factor for items that may have otherwise damaged and dented in your box. The spray in cannot protect the same although I will prob be getting a spray over rail Line-X professionally done in the Spring time. I do have a rubber mat so that will still get tranfered over and help with impact.
Don't get me wrong, I don't drop bricks in the back but I do run my snowblower up in there every time it snows. It's just nice to feel extra protected....lol

If they are asking 360 for the drop in and you can flex a little more with the money then I would go with a spray on for sure.
I just went through the same decision as you with my 08. I had an 03 Ram and had Line-X put in it, and I used Herculiner on my 03 F 150 because it already had rail caps and was purchased used. I don't think Herculiner is that bad if you prep your bed right, and make sure to stir up the texture pieces as you are applying it. BUT, it is not nearly as thick or hard and durable as Line X. Plus, you would have to make sure to get your lines straight if you were going to apply it to your rails too.
1. Line-X or Rhino
2. Herculiner (But I would put 3-4 coats on instead of the 2 that are recommended)
3. Plastic
By the way, I paid $525 including tax for my 08 Quad Cab Short Bed 1500 for Line-X over the rail. This was including a $50 off coupon from the phone book.
Good luck deciding.

I bought Bullhide spray in bed liner over the rails for 450, lifetime warranty. It is a glossy finish but not slippery. I love it and would do it again for any one of my trucks. My dad liked it so much he is getting it for his 08 Chevy.
I have a ReFlex spray in over the rails on mine. Its glossy but has a rubbery non skid surface. Only thing id do different is reflex in the bed and linex over the rails as the reflex is thick and looks a but funny to me on the rails. I paid 500 for it.
