Default DIY skid plates?

I was changing the oil on my 5.7L Ram 1500 the other day and (stupidly..) noticed that there weren't any skid plates protecting my underbody! My truck just has the tow package on it and apparently lacks the skids (even my 98 Exploder has them!). My question is: How can I go about adding the skid plates on the vitals and where can I get them? Would the local car parts store (OReilly's/checkers) have them?

Would there be any other kind of protection I could add to the underbody? I will be doing a lot of work off-road (trails/weeds/brush/stumps/etc..) and would feel better with the protection of the plates.

Thanks for any help! I did a search and couldn't find anything relating to this question but if you find any links I would be VERY happy.

Have a good one!

I got a price off a Mopar dealer on Ebay for $240 shipped for the skid plates. New OEM painted black.
Only the Offroad packages have them. Tow package don't mean squat on those. Apples to Oranges.
How about the Offroad packages didn't even come with Limited slip diff's. It's an option!

My old dakota didn't have them, made a nice one out of diamond plate alum. worked great, could hit a jagged rock pretty hard and not leave a dent. of course it was 1/4"

I was thinking of doing the same thing but a Pre-runner style skidplate. Do you remember about how much the materials ran you?
