Mechanical wise, the 02-05 is the same as the 06-08. All they changed was fenders, head lights, grill, interior, and the taillights on the 07-08.

Yesterday on the way homethe truck was limping home, missing each time I gave it a little gas. Dropped it off first thing this morning at the shop so I'll post the problem after I get the phone call. Hopefully it's something minor, wish me luck.

Default Latest update.

Just got off the phone with the technician and they're still working on it scratching their heads. They say it's one of the strangest things they’ve seen.

The engine is indeed misfiring but not on the same cylinder. They recorded only 17 misfires per 30,000 but you definitely feel it. Sometimes it’s on the #1 cylinder, next time #5, then #3, etc. They checked all the plugs and they’re good. All the coils are good. Now he’s going after the injectors. He said worst case scenario it could be the computer but not to worry because federal law mandates the emission system and computers to be warranted for 80,000 miles ~whew~ (A new computer is around a thousand dollars)

Anyway that’s the latest thus far.

On the plus side, they acknowledge and can duplicate the problem. That's a major accomplishment all by itself.

I too purchased an 04 RAM 1500 with the 4.7l new and had only one issue in 120,000 miles and it was a simple wheel bearing (most likely due to my oversized wheels and tires). I sold it to my son in law and he has had great success with only a few issues (the A/C issue being one of them at 150,000 miles now).
I bought a used 2006 Mega cab hemi with 43,000 miles on it and it has been a head ache every since. Fuel pump at 65,000 miles, transmission takes forever to kick in after sitting overnight or for a few hrs since I bought it. (hoping that is just building preasure through the trany cooling system?) a squalling noise just started on start up at 94,000 miles and it has an exhaust leak somewhere near the header when cold but goes away when hot. This thing is a total POS and I wish I would have kept the 04.

All dealers, sellers, manufactures, ect have theirs issues. My truck has been flawless while others have had issues with theirs. It is a moving mechanized machine that has wearable parts and WILL break down. Parts for these things come from all over the world and are MASS produced on an assembly line and for the lowest dollar possible.

Anyone thinking Ford is better than Dodge or Dodge better than Ford is only in denial. Dont think Toyota and Honda and everyone else out there is any different. They ALL have issues. Buy WHATEVER you want but I promise you you WILL spend money maintaining it, replacing parts and keeping it up.

Some days i go to McDonalds and their sweet tea is great. Sometimes I go and it tastes like crap. That doesnt mean I dont go to McDs anymore

thats hilarious I just sat down with some mcdonalds and a tea. Today its pretty good.

Ive got a 03,so far with 180k miles on it. Since i got it used at 60k ive replaced the cat, plugs, radiator, rad hoses, heater core (whatta pita) and right now the valve seals are shot, steering rack is going bad, steering pump has a leak, and trans slips sometimes when cold. I still love it. Il spend another $5k and have it last me another 100k miles hopefully. Much better then spending 5k on a car that has 120k miles and a lazy owner that leaves his bs for me to fix. at least my dodge is slowly being rebuilt lol.

I love this truck,coming from a multi-car gm owner

And when you think about it, 100k is a lot of miles. At the mileage you can be expecting things to go down and give issues. At 180K, youre good to still have an engine and trans
