I wouldn't buy a 2500 with a hemi if your even modestly concerned with fuel mileage. In addition the cruise has a heck of a time maintaining 75 mph even on the smallish hills west of tallahassee. The truck would lose about 4-5 miles per hour before it decides to drop down 2 gears and then it goes like hell back up to 75. Makes for an entertaining ride in hilly country. I have to agree with the others who said a Hemi is a bit under powered in a 4x4 2500 (which is basically what a 1500 mega cab is).
How'd you get to Austin on I-10?

i have a 07 sbrc with the hemi and 4x4-... 33's 392 gears dual exhaust and cai, i used to get about 400kms per tank.. i had a superchips givin to me, on fuel economy mode i gained about 100 kms per tank.. so im not to upset about 500 kms per tank around town.. i get close to 700 on the hwy.. next truck for sure tho is a 2500 ctd with a 6 speed manual tranny..

Why would u thinka 2500 is underpowered? The 5.7 is a pretty powerful engine in both a 1500 and a 2500. Ive used both for both work and play. The 1500 has a ton of get up and go but the 2500 does too, with more stability to tow ur **** without ditchin urself which is what youd do in a 1500

My 05 2500 2wd auto QC is getting about 15.1 combined city/hwy (mostly hwy). Plenty of power. Trying out a DiabloSport Predator to see if I can get the mileage up a little. Results are posted in a separate thread.
