I am looking to purchase and install the STS turbo system on my 2008 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4. I need some help in deciding if this system would be best for my truck. Has anyone installed in on there truck? Has anyone heard or experince this system? I hope you all could help. Check out the website if you don't know what I am talking about.

ive seen them mounted on trucks b4, about the worst thing i can think of is intake...it intakes air from under the truck so you would have to be careful about large puttles, and being a 4x4 that might suck, other than that there isnt too much modification to put it on from what i understand, not sure if a programmer is required but ide suggest a diablo sport and have it dyno tuned

 

StS has a snorkel kit for the turbo it you do plan on using those turbos the way they should be. I've seen it at a few car shows as well as on GEARS it was put on a z06 corvette. Also on TRUCKS they installed it on a 90's Lightening. I have heard nothing bad about them (except for those people who tried mounting the universal systems by their selves in stead of welding them ) and I have been considering sts vs procharger for a while now but considering the price sts will win as long as they can help the tuning on my 4.7l

If you do any towing stay away from the STS kit, they build to much heat and boost when you dont want it or need it while under a load.

 

^^^^ Not sure if I totally agree. WHile I agree with the excess heat as any towing would do, that extra power is most definately needed. The only time a Hemi truck would be in boost is towing a 4,000lb+ loads and then you would want that extra power. Anything under that, the Hemi can pull without being put into boost for the most part. It has plenty of power to stay out of boost.

There will be added heat but nothing a better cooling system couldn't fix. Or even installing Meth injection.

Now, will the lower engine, transmission, rear-end or front cv axles hold up to the daily abuse of truck life....Probably not. Something will give as it's a matter of time. Now I'm sure if your easy and street the truck for most of it's life, then the truck should last a lifetime. I would install one on my stock truck in a heart beat if I had the extra cash.

The Only issu'es that I've hear of STS are their programming chips. They use a chip for your custom tune and not a handheld. I don;t like the idea because it's not programmable via handheld or something you can bring to any tuner so they can adjust.
Custom tune for sure if you have a local Diablosport dealer nearby. You can go to their website to find a dealer near you.

Yeah, you could put an STS on a bone stock hemi engine, and safely run about 6psi of boost. I've heard that you can safely boost up to 8psi, but after that you need to build up the engine to handle the additional boost.

 

On an STS turbo this is correct. You can't simply say 8psi is cut-off for all Forced induction systems as some eat up more hp than others making them less efficient.
For ex. You could run 8psi on a Procharger and get the same output as a 6psi STS Turbo.

However, any FI system sold on the market is safe for a stock vehcle and will hold up. It's when you get into more boost than what their stock kits provide there will be issue's.
