2002 4.7L single cab/short bed

13.3mpg highway and 11.5mpg mixed

My old 1996 5.9L was getting 17mpg highway and 14mpg mixed

was thinking it would get the same...but i guess i'm not far off from some of the others on here.

87 octane, 104k miles, 2004, 1500 QC, 4x4, 4.7, 20" stock wheels.
Original sticker says it had 17" wheels.
No mods I know of.
I am still a dodge noob.
Only one and a half tanks ran thru it since I just got it this past week.
Mostly city driving I am getting between 13.6 and 13.9
Have not broke the 14.0 mark yet coasting when I can.

budc, your highway mpg seems low. I would expect it to be around 17 or a little more.
MOPARPAT, that seems pretty good. I am guessing your truck is close to stock? No massive wheels or stage 6 hp kits installed?
Mr~GoPar, reset your ave eco display each time you refill that will give you a little better idea. I also recommend using a stubby pencil and paper pad to figure your fuel economy each tank. Welcome to DF.

Yes, decreasing drag (improving aerodynamics) improves FE. My truck is rolling proof. I am now up to 24 mpg at 65 mph over a 150 mile trip. I am taking a road trip to OKC this weekend and will give you all an update once I get back. I hope to get over 25 mpg on this trip (1200 miles).

Does a tonneau cover make much of a difference in Fuel economy? Those numbers you have would be fantastic for me

Yeah.that's what i would have guessed as well.

I've done the regular stuff. Check air filter, tire pressure, tune up, etc. I just recently got tranny flush with front/rear diffs and transfer case. Got an k&n filter coming soon ( i know it won't help much, but something else to try)

So we'll see.

My truck doesnt tell mpg and I dont really care much what im gettin, but I found an app for my phone that puts in my kms and litres and tells what im getting, right now its tellin me im averaging 11.06 MPG.. Thats pretty much equal hwy and city driving..

08 QC 4x4, 5.7, SC 87 octane, 35" tires and still orig gears, exh and CAI.. Good enough for me I guess, If i wanted better id have bought a honda..
