Don't know if it's true but I agree. On many occasions I have gotten better gas mileage from driving 75-85 mph. Mainly in the interstate. Averaged over 17mpg on a trip from KY to FL with a motorcycle in the back, prolly a total of 700 lbs total. Pulled a car trailer with '60s model cruisers from KY through the hills of WV and TN and got about 11 mpg. Normal daily driving @ 60% interstate gets about 14-15mpg completely stock.
So i agree to drive it hard, just don't get a ticket,

4.7L Magnaflow Cat back Duals, K&N CAI, 265x70x17 3.55 gears.
average over the last year has been 14mpg, not acceptable that a little bitty V-8 with stock tires and wheels can not do better than that. It gets 9-10 with a small trailer behind it. 14-15 otherwise. I like the power but think for the mileage it ought to be a LOT MORE POWER, I had a big block 460 ford that did almost as good and it ran a LOT BETTER.

Default highway...

My MPG varies quite a bit... especially depending on where I get my gas. Last time I reset the MPG calculator in my truck it averaged around 11.9 for about 500 miles. But, I'm pretty sure that was a few tanks of winter gas, because it's never been that bad. Before a 250 mile road trip yesterday I filled up and reset the calc, and I actually managed to get 17.7 MPG on the highway the whole way. That was with the cruise set at 70 MPH 90% of the time, which is about 1900 RPMs. Everything is stock except for the exhaust, which is a Cherry Bomb glass pack dumped before the rear axle.
