I am only getting 11-12 MPG on my Dodge Ram 1550 pick up. It's a 2003 with a 5.7 lt Hemi V8.
Does this seem normal to anyone? Any ideas on how to improve it?

 

I took my tail gate off, and My mpg is now 15.5.

 

I drove my dad's truck yesterday for 120 miles, the 60 miles to my destination, I was doing 60mph, running on 87 octane, I got 16.73mpg, on the way home, I filled it up with 92 octane, ran 65mph, got 19.93mpg...

I average around 16.5 mpg mixed city and highway. Mods are in my sig.

 

14.88, my foot was heavy for that tank.

Not really concerned. If I wanted gas mileage, I'da bought a Honda Civic. Love the truck....

I do notice it gets better mileage on 92 with the SC program then on 87 and stock ECU program, FWIW.

 

I have a 2003 ram with the rare 5.9L engine. I put a throttle body spacer and straight piped it, but my 285s cancelled those both out. I average about 10-12 mpg. If anyone has any advise please help, i am thinking about a performance chip, but i don't know if that will work.

Advice = remove the throttle body spacer, and pawn it off on someone who isn't on the forums....

It's WORTHLESS.....

It makes a cool whistling sound.... and that's it.

 

how are you guys testing your mpg? by the thing on the ceiling that tells you how many mpg your getting? because mine gives me different results each time once it was 9 then it was 12 then it was 14 and today it was 21

 

Im new here. Whats the happenins? My truck gets between 10.8 & 9.8 mpg. Im not ling! The best iEVER got stock is11.8.

02 ram slt quad cab long bed 4x4. Tow package, loaded with everything but leather and dual zone ac. 22' rims with 37' nittos, cust magnaflow quad exhaust, hypertech, k&n, cold air/ram air,platniumhot plugs. Its the loaded down bolt on tool box and the sound system that does it. Im not even heavy on the gas. I use my trip comp to save some. I was going to supercharge it but i feel guilty about my fuel milage.
