Default RE: Miles per gallon- What are you getting?

The best I got was 12.8 MPG on my trip to Tenneessee and back. It was about 270 miles one way and I averaged about 65mph going up at 12.8mpg and around 78mph at 11.8mpg coming back. I did notice the overhead MPH meter was a little off to the plus side of things. Still, not too bad considering I have not gotten my programmer yet. I have done the exhaust and the intake, however. Please bear in mind that my4x4Power Wagonhas the 4:56 gears and is built in the 2500 chassis so she is a little more heavier than the standard 1500.

06 Hemi anywhere from 3mpg- 10mpg Average8mpgdepends on town/hwy with/against wind and what i'm Pulling. My 07 Toyota mind you has 381 hp and 401 ft-lbs gets 15-19.5mpg same enviromental variables, except I accelerate quicker with the TundraMore HP and Torque.

I put45k onthe Hemi and its been in the dealership10 timesforbreakdowns/check engine lights. Gas and repair bills out of pocket expenses total $18,625.00
I put 45K on the Tundra thisyear and its only needed basic oil changes. Gas and oil changes total $8,400
Needless to say the Dodge is FOR SALE 06 Hemi Quad45Kmiles all maintance /service records (and they are extensive). Its pulled a 20ftfiberglassv-hull 70 miles to andfromthe lake.Buyer signs " buys as is"contract.up stateNY

This is a little off topic butyour posting hereis very true!!!

This 2006 I now have is my 6th Dodge Ram since the 1994 body change. I usually keep them until they reach 40 to 50K then trade up a year or two... been doing that for years now... Ihave paid cash for all but two of my Rams so I've neverpaid any finance charges... WhenI figure in the depreciation, the cost to maintain, the fuel expenses, insurance and license (tag) fee'sMy3 to 4year cost of ownership exceeds $45,000.....
So Ihave to agree with you that the cost of ownership is extremely high with Dodge.

I paid 31,000K for my 2006 in 6-2006, (sticker was $34,700)....I've owned it 17 months and put 8000 miles on it and it has already depreciated $15,000......pretty crappy in my opinion.

Kelley Blue Book noweven rates the Dodge Ram as a poor value...... and for those who just think I am out to flame Dodge....No, not at all.....see for yourself..... http://www.kbb.com/KBB/NewCars/CostO...mp;YearId=2007

My sister in law bought a new 2007 Tundra double cab SR5 4x4 a little over a year ago and she has already racked up close to 25,000 miles on it.....It has needed absolutely nothing but the oil changes done....No check engine lights, no ABS lights, no airbag recalls, no seat belt recalls, no leaking gas tanks, no rattles, no vibrations....Nothing at all.... In the meantime I've had to take my Ram in for each one of the above and it only has 8000 miles on it... If I remember right I've had to have 7 recalls done now....

KBB rates the Tundra an Excellant here http://www.kbb.com/KBB/NewCars/CostO...mp;YearId=2007

I recently recieved an ad in the mail from my local Toyota Dealer.... the ad said they were offering $6000 off 2007's and that if I came in and test drove a 2007 or 2008 Tundra X-SP they would give me a $50 pre-paid Mastercard. I figured what the heck.....a free $50 bill... I'll drive one...
I went over there and showed them the coupon thing and told them I needed to do the test drive for the $50... they took me out and showed me a bright electric blue/ silver bottom X-SP Tundra crew max. 22" BBS wheels, Nerf bars, black leather heated seats, fender flares, 380 hp 5.7...
and power everthing..... with a sticker price of $39,980.... You'd pay that for a Larame Ram

I took it out really expecting nothing special...however I was extremely surprised.....it had a ton more pep then my Ram, the tranny shifted firmly and when the windows were up it was completely silent inside at 60 mph...Ithad none of the rattles and road noise my Ram has.I felt like Istepped into some kind ofluxury truck. The handling, braking, everything was so much more refined then my Ram.

I got my $50 and left the dealershipimpressed with theTundra....I've always been a person that only buys American when it came to my vehicles so I was pleasantly surprised to see it said this was built in Tennessee with"96%" of the components from the USA. Needless to say, I will be seriously looking at the Tundra when I buy my next truck.

Good post, Ilike to hearfrompeople with Tundra experiances

My 04' Ram 1500 QC 4.7L on 20's is getting an average of 13.3mpg around town, I run a bit better when I make highway trips, but haven't had the chance to see the long road trip mileage yet.
