I have never been pulled over and I have 8000k but I don't have any in the fogs so idk what the hell the cops problem is. Some stock cars have brighter hids than our after market one. Like Landrovers there hids are really bright.

Those with stock HIDs aren't blinding oncoming traffic. It's pretty obvious when you pass someone who has HIDs only to "impress" other people -- they're right in your eyes and are the most purple kit they could find. They're right of the Kelvin scale and are measured on the Smurf scale instead.

It is pretty sad when people are impressed by headlights that were offered STOCK on a 1995 Lincoln Mark VIII. It's been 15 years now -- we're not blown away that you found a HID kit for your 88 Oldsmobile!

I'm converting to HID, and I'll do it with projectors too. I'm not such a purist to think that it requires a full retrofit; some ebay projectors should have an ok pattern with HID bulbs -- at least much better than my stockers would have been.

Sounds like an a-hole cop that just wanted to mess with you. I've never heard of somebody getting pulled for HID's. They come from the factory on most luxury cars so I don't see the problem.

No, not even then. Even if you had a 6" lift, that would only make the beam go maybe a few feet forward. Certainly not aiming them in people eyeballs.
My Fogs are pointed directly on the ground about 25ft in front of the truck...IF they actually make it that far.
i only have a pic with my headlights on not just the fogs alone.
I outlined in orange where my foglights are on the ground. You can see the intensity so they are clearly on the ground 20ft away. Headlights are suppose to be aimed 2" below actual height at 25ft away, which is 3ft higher than the fogs. Fiurther away you go, lower the headlight beam is suppose to drop where as the fogs are On the Ground already. Notice they don't go above my cut-off which would blind people if they were, and they don't. The ONLY reason I put the HID's in the fogs.

Ebay projectors will provide a sufficient cut-off no to blind drivers nearly as much, but they will still allow light to escape, but minor.
Ebay or for that matter all aftermarket projectors are made for Halogen bulbs not HID, so the ouput of an aftermarket projector with HID bulbs is not going to have near the same cut-off pattern or intensity of an actual HID projector that requires a retro-fit.
Aftermarket projectors=very easy and crappy-so-so output but much safer for cars coming the other way and fairly inexpensive.
Retro-fit=true hid projectors with razor sharp cut-off and very even lighting, but much more expensive and labor intensive.

My stock headlights have a very nice cutoff - I wonder how they would be with HIDs? They should still have the cutoff wouldn't you think?

Has anyone had any experience with these? http://www.k2motor.com/02-05-dodge-r...eadlights.html

I am thinking about getting a set and putting HID's in my fogs.

Stock halogens...no such thing as a cut-off.

The "cut-off" is made by a plate inside the projector. that is why if you look at my pic above, there is a distinct difference between headlights and no headlights. Halogens are a large blob of light dumped on the road. No cut-off at all. Aftermarket projectors have a sloppy cut-off at best since they are meant for Halogens and are mass produced.

Halogens= no cut-off. Notice how there is an outline of light, but you can see light 15ft up the wall compared to below.

HID's in HID projector housings(notice the cut-off is very distinct)

One time I was sitting straight across from a Sheriff, both of us in a turning lane. We were there for a few minutes, and when we got green, he went on his way and me on mine. So if a Sheriff didn't get me, then a cop to be hounding you like that is stupid.

They constantly pull people over around here for HIDs. Mostly just warnings however they write tickets quite often for running with the fog lights on within city limits as it is illegal if they aren't neccesary.
