Magnetic ballast in general are crap, I had some hidextra ballasts like yours fail on me too. The newer digital (slim) ballast are much better, but cost a few extra bucks.

i bought my HID kit for my bike from ddmtuning.com. they're kits are the same price as hidextra except you get the slim ballast for the same price. Im going to call them tomorrow and make sure i get a better experience than hid extra.

as for you guys who are about to buy... but somewhere else please. the reason they dont give 2 cents is because they are advertising on every car and truck forum and tons of people are buying it, so they dont care about the few who get screwed

the worst part is the ballast have "QC passed" stickers on them, when they are bad

I have purchased 3 kits from HIDExtra and they all work absolutely great. Support has been absolutely wonderful for me.I haven't had Ballast issues, However I did have to replace a bulb and they didn't give me any issues.

Wow, Like I said, I had completely different experience. For me I felt they bent over backwards to make sure I was happy. And I was. Amazing to see so many different experiences.
