4" Home Fab CAI

That '03 pick looks good. thanks for that, it'll help in design phase.
However I'm going to attempt to still use a cone, in side the box.
Though the drop in might be the alternative. Also a thought was to only make use of the bottom of the box and not the top (which would require a cone filter), but would negate the RAM AIR idea...
Planning....thinking....measure twice cut once.

Understood. I wrestled for a few minutes whether or not to cut out the front of the box, despite admitting to myself I'd never put the OEM nose funnel back in.
I was looking at the box last night wondering if there was a way to put a 3" flange coupling on the inside of the lid. You run a pipe from the intake to the box. Then on the inside of the lid you add a flange coupling to the lid itself, and then add a short 90 degree elbow and your filter. By doing it that way you would minimize destruction of the stock air box. This is important only if you ever plan to sell your truck and you want to take the intake back to stock. With this setup I suspect the only repair work you'd have to do would be to patch screw holes for the flange coupling mounting.
In any case, anxious to see what you come up with.

doesn't look like anybody answered the reducer question. it is a 4"x3" reducer lowes item number 23320. not suprised that the dude looked at like you had a extra part on your face. most of the people lowe's hires wouldn't know their asses from a whole in the ground and just throw them in a department. i've been there for 4 and a half years.

Well I have made several of these already, actually had one on my 99 dodge and it lasted me 5 years with no problems. I had a 3" in my 07 for 2yrs and decided to go bigger and just built the 4" and i like it much better. A lot deeper throaty sound from the 4", and the beefy look is awesome also. I have always used Spectre and have had great luck with them holding up..

Id like to do this on my 07 1500. They all look good and seem to be way better than 300 for a aftermarket CAI. Quick question though... Will building a homebrew and installing it void any warranties??? Just curious.
Looking at starting to put on of these together this weekend.. How long did the install take you guys??
