Either way you go with the route, the cross over pipe will wake it up in power and tame it a tad in the choppy sound. I've had a few that I put the cross over in to get rid of that choppy sound and got more power in return as well. Best of luck!
Hoss not sure if the Y will make it louder but the increase in flow will certainly help. Pure speculation tells me it will be louder but you will not get popping or banging.
I have heard the Cb and like them they have pretty nice tone.
You could do that but its so much less hassle just to go Y to muffler then SO or DO. Personally Im a SO guy but I make it count because I will never have a shop make my junk unless it is mandrel bent exhaust like maggy. Thats why I'm running a 3" maggy cat back setup. When I go headers I will have a high flow Y going into 3" so I will be 3" the whole way with smooth bends.
hello all im not sure if you have been told yet but the size of your pipes have alot to do with the popping noise i noticed on the first page anyway no one put the pipe size 2 1/4 and sometimes 2 1/2 pop like that if you go 3 inch or better it will stop i have a 97 with straight right out the side with a 360 and 3 inch no popping till 8 thousand rpm
