Default Potential 3rd Gen Ram...which one? Why?

Hey guys. I'm looking for a Ram 1500 right now. Quad Cab with a Hemi is preferable. I have been shopping around like crazy trying to find one.

Came across a 2006 Hemi Quad Cab, with Infinity speakers, Hard Tonneau cover, leather, 20" Alloy rims, and all the fixings. They want $19,500 for it with 13,000 miles. 2WD.

Do you think this is a good deal? Or should I get a higher (in one case 100,000) miles for less ($12,500 in this case). It is also a 2006, but with a Laramie package.

I'm torn on spending more money for less mileage/options vs. less options for a newer truck. Is there a big difference in the '06 vs. the other 3rd Gen. Rams?

The '09+ really ride a lot smoother. And I have another back surgery coming up. But I can't seem to find any trucks that new for under $20K with a Hemi. I'm open to opinions and ideas, especially if you notice any trucks that are for sale!!!

Thanks for your time in advance. I really look forward to hearing what you guys have to say (speaking from experience).

09+ have rear coil suspension which is why thy are a bit smoother. They also lack some towing and payload.
I would opt for the lower mileage truck over a 100kmi used/abused one myself.
Pre 06 don't have MDS(4 cyl crap activation) and they also have diff front suspension.

If you can get a extended warranty Id go with the cheaper one. If not, get the lower miles. Neither would have a factory warranty so im assuming you're buying As Is? Id try to talk them down on the low miles one. I just got my 2008 lonestar edition 4x4 with 18,000 miles for $23,500. That included a 5 year-100k mile extended warranty + lifetime engine coverage.

Default Trucks

Thanks for all of the advice guys. My Dad actually found a truck up in KY at the Dodge dealer he uses. It was the last 1500 on the lot.

Dodge Ram 1500, Hemi, 4x4, Big Horn Edition
-Cloth seats
-32 Gallon gas tank (as opposed to 25)
- 6 speaker sound with Aux digital device jack and hard drive for storing MP3s
-20'' wheels, etc.
- As an aside - it is Mineral Grey, IIRC
Purchase price was $29,497.

My friend bought one down here, but it wasn't a 4x4 and it has leather. But he ended up paying $33,000. I'm hoping he doesn't asked me how much mine ended up costing.

If it helps anyone helps anyone else to know what else I found:

There was a 2008 Sport Edition with Hemi. It had 19K miles and they were willing to get it out the door for $21,500 also. Just like the 2006 I mentioned above. However, it didn't have a hard tonneau cover or the Infinity speakers. Other than that, the two vehicles were identical: 20" chrome wheels and all. So the two trucks were priced almost exactly the same, but the 2008 had five thousand or so more miles.

Where are you finding these deals. They are amazing compared to whats out there on autotrader, yahoo autos, & cars.com. My 04' Hemi was stolen a month ago out of my driveway and I just came to a settlement with the auto insurance company today. I have been looking for trucks for the last 30 days and haven't found deals like that anywhere.

Any advice for places to look besides those listed and Ebay Motors?

I bought my 2008 Hemi 2wd with 35k on it for $18,700 about 6 months ago. The deals are out there. I love my truck, has power everything, sat radio, u-connect, 3.92 LS rear end, tow package, 20" chrome wheels, etc... Nice find, those new Rams are awesome.
