Hmm interesting. What the shock has a built in extension on the top?

the strut itself has grooves cut into it with a locking ring that you can move into 1 of 4 positions from stock up to 2" of lift. then you put your stock spring pirch on it, then coil, then stock cap and bolt the sucker up. pretty slick idea

Thanks for the information guys. I am looking at options to level and or raise my 08 4x4. I feel the 2008 is the bastard child that nobody makes anything for.

This is the same concept the use to lower cars with coilovers. Works very well as long as the shocks are made for the change in internal piston position. I will def keep my eye on these instead of the spacers.

check shockwarehouse.com. They have the bilstein 5100 and shows which level the truck and which ones are just designed for lifted applications. The ones that level will go up to 2" of lift in the front and the matching rears will (allow) you to go an additional inch in the rear, but don't actually lift the rear for you, you need a lift block. Kinda confusing at first but the more you read the more it will make sense. Very wise choice when leveling your truck. About 3.5 times the cost as a metal spacer, but the ride will be much better and it seems anyone complaining about vibrations have the spacers.

Just got my billy 5100's today and I know I'm gonna be happy with them. Now the question is, how difficult is it to change out the stockers to the new bilstiens? Is it absolutely necessary to get a spring compressor and how much is the spring going to be needin compressed for full lift?

Nitroman71,

Any news on the install? How's it ride? How many inches did you end up getting out of it?

What is your overall review of the product(s)? (Did you just get the 5100 or did you get the spacers as well)

I'm in the market to do the same thing to my 2007 and would love to hear your comments.

Thanks,

BWhelan

Taking out the struts, does this require an alignment?

Do you just push them all the way in (which is usually stock setting on front wheel drive vehicles)?
