What do you have for a stereo system?
I have an '02 QC 4x4 and am getting ready to beef up the sound system. I would like some ideas on what guys are running for decks, amps and speakers. I am thinking like an Alpine or Kenwood deck with upgraded speakers in the doors and two 10" subs under the seat. First off, what size are the stock door speakers and what do I need for amps to push this? A 4 channel? Two 2 channel amps? List your mods and try to be specific if you can. I want the best system I can get that sounds great for a reasonable and realistic price.

Fronts - 6X9
Rear - 6.5
Dash - 3.5
I would run the least amount of amps as possible. For the simple set-up you described (2-10"s under rear seat) I would say either a dedicated sub amp or a decent 5 channel if you wanted to amp the other speakers as well. One of the biggest things that is overlooked is sound deadening. Also, you want an amp that will at least match the RMS rating of the speakers.

no prob, whenever you are ready but PM me.
I have no dimming issues. Im using a stock 136 amp alt. I have upgraded all my electrical wiring (Big 3 upgrade - see my thread on it) and I am using two 1000 amp batteries from Autozone (Duralast gold).
But before I had my second battery I didnt have any dimming issues. I only added the 2nd batt because I added a winch (which now I no longer have)
So hopefully this answers all your Qs

Jon, do the 6x9's and the 6.5's fit w/o cutting? What size is stock?

Here is my stereo. It's not the high end stuff that I used to install, most of it was on sale or from old systems. Its nothing special, but works good enough for me, definitely better than the stock 4 speaker that was in the truck when I bought it.
Head Unit: Alpine CDE-100, $99 on sale, with wiring harness, antenna adapter, and install kit
Front doors: Sony 3 way 6x9s, $35 circuit city closing
Rear doors: Boston Acoustics 5 1/4s, Free, had from a vehicle about 6 years ago
Subs: 2x Alpine Type E 12", $50 for both subs and box
Amp: Old Rockford Fosgate, pushing about 125watts RMS to each sub, I have had since 1996, when I turned 16. It has been around and yet to fail me
Total: $184
