Default New used truck

Does anyone know how I can tell what rear end gears I have? Would there be a way to look it up via the VIN?

Thanks in advance.

3.55 is usually the normal ratio but the Big Horn Editions came with 3.92s. The vin should show it if you take it to the dealership. Also if you have a Superchips you can find the tuning option where it says adjust rear axle ratio, Whatever the pcm has programed it will show your ratio that the pcm has programmed. If that makes since. There are easier ways..

You can get an entire build sheet from a local dealer with your vin, or there is a website that you can get one from as well. If you do a search on here I'm sure you will find it since it has been posted many times.

You can also look in you glovebox. There should be a tag in there that says the ratio. If not there, look on the rear axle, I think on the passenger side close to the brakes, there might be a tag there. If you have a 4x4, the front diff cover will also state the ratio.

Superchips does nothing by changing you axle ratio in it.

Getting the build sheet for the VIN is the best way. I say that because it tells you everything about your truck. There are also online calculators you can use to determine your gear as well.

the gear ratio is usually on a sticker right inside of your leaf springs as well as they often have a little metal tag on one of the housing bolts that has the ratio stamped into it

i thought that all the trucks that came with the factory 20s and have the 20" spare rim had the 3.92s in them i noticed most of the trucks have a 20 spare but mine has a 17 the guy before me must have put the rims on after he bought the truck.

They must quit putting that info in the glove box because mine and my buddies 08 ram doesnt have anything in the glove box. Nor does my dads 07 work truck.
